We will be converting this promotional site for the 50th Celebration into a report on the fantastic turnout and all the activities and festivities.

To get you started here are some photos taken by the current Volunteers at the Celebration:  www.flickr.com/photos/daverichie/collections/72157629257846203/

The current Volunteers created a web site to assist the reunion, particularly to  work people found on facebook.  Now they are also converting their site into reporting on the actual Celebration.  Take a look starting at:  http://new.fotdr.org/50th/conferencenow/

An Invitation to join us - February 7-10, 2012

Santo Domingo (PCDR) – In July of 1962, 22 young Americans ventured off an airplane and onto a little-known Caribbean island, ready for an aventura and unaware of the thousands who would follow in their footsteps. With few resources and a heap of determination, these initial Peace Corps Volunteers started a tradition of community service in partnership with the people of the Dominican Republic that continues today, half a century later.

                    Consider this!

  • A lovely hotel venue on  the Malecon in Santo Domingo
  • A full day of events hosted by current Peace Corps Volunteers
  • Keynote by US Peace Corps Director Aaron Williams, RPCV-DR
  • A US Embassy Reception honoring 50 years of Peace Corps and AID with the Dominican community
  • Dominican colleagues describing Peace Corps "Enduring Legacy"
  • PC DR Country Directors describing our work and eras
  • Fiesta de Amistad with friends, guests, and Dominican dancing
  • Constant contact with today’s Volunteers
  • An Artisan Fair featuring Dominican especialidades like coffee, chocolate, honey, crafts, jewelry, gemstones, and more
  • Travel options pre- and post-Celebration to visit the 27 Waterfalls, Bayahibe beach, Samana, Jarabacoa, Pedernales, and other beautiful destinations of the Dominican Republic
  • A special post-Celebration licensed Cuba tour option
  • The opportunity to return to your site and reconnect with your Dominican family and friends
  • Arroz, habichuelas, tostones, presidente, sancocho, mofongo, ron, y merengue!

We’ll have the tostones in the fry pan for you…. Y un cafecito for you in the morning.......

Ideas continued on the following pages on agenda, hotel, registration, and all the excursions and tours.
