Announcing a Cooperative Agreement between American University and FDR to Safeguard your Peace Corps Materials
Friends of the Dominican Republic is very happy to make available to returned Volunteers from the Dominican Republic the opportunity to donate your Peace Corps materials to a special FDR section of the Peace Corps Community Archives (PPCA) at American University. This is an exciting opportunity to maintain the history of Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic in a professional library where it will be available to family members and researchers alike.
Through a cooperation agreement between the American University Library Special Collections and Friends of the Dominican Republic signed in August, the University's library will accept and recognize donations of materials collected during your PC experience in the Dominican Republic for preservation in the FDR section. American University has been collecting RPCV materials from across the world and you can see many of the materials donated by individual RPCVs online through the AU Library's website. Through this partnership FDR wants to encourage RPCVs from the DR to donate to AU's collection.
FDR has a packet of materials that will explain to FDR's members, their families and other interested parties how the Peace Corps Community Archive was created, what types of materials the library will accept and how to make a donation using a Deed of Gift form included in the packet. The packet will answer most of your questions regarding what and how to donate to the FDR Section of the Peace Corps Community Archives.
If you have materials that you want to donate, please send an email to president@fotdr.org to receive the donation packet by return email.
