The University Scholarship Program (USP), is a program initiated in 2019, but only recently separated from the PSF, which is jointly funded by Friends of the DR and our partner organization, Fondo Quisqueya (FQ), to provide university scholarships to graduates of the National Environmental School in the DR. The following scholarships have been approved.
- In 2019, Keisel Rivas was chosen by the Environmental School faculty to receive the first USP four-year university scholarship to study industrial engineering at the Universidad Tecnologica de Santiago, at an estimated cost of $2000 per year, to be shared by FDR and FQ. - In September 2022, two new recipients were chosen for scholarships, Ramon Candelario and Gabriel Veras. Ramon expects to graduate with a degree in civil engineering from the Universidad Dominicana O&M; and Veras with a degree in forestry engineering from the Universidad National Evangelico. The estimated annual cost per student increased to $3000 per year.
